The RB Formula 1 team, previously known as Toro Rosso and AlphaTauri, unveiled its 2024 car in Las Vegas on 9 February. The launch version VCARB 01, christened with an acronym that mixes both new title sponsors, gave away a limited number of technical details.
However, one of the major confirmed changes was the switch from pushrod to pull-rod suspension on the front, echoing the layout used by parent team Red Bull Racing. The pushrod configuration featured on last season’s AlphaTauri AT04 but has been abandoned as the RB squad continues its close alliance with the reigning champion outfit. The lower lip of each engine intake now protrudes out further than the upper lip, where previously they were of equal length. The nose of the VCARB 01 is pointed and extends right to the end of the front wing. This is similar to the AT04, but was not on last year’s Red Bull RB19 which had a nose that stopped slightly short of the end.
RB introduced an updated floor at the Japanese Grand Prix, in an attempt to increase the amount of load generated by the underfloor. This was followed up by a more significant upgrade for the Miami Grand Prix, shown below.
