Established experts and relative newcomers alike are preparing to showcase the latest in motorsport technology next month at Europe’s largest dedicated motorsport show, Autosport International 2014.
Almost 500 companies from around the world have already signed up to exhibit at the 9-12 January event at Birmingham’s NEC, where £1.07 billion worth of new business was generated earlier this year. The result is a £200 million increase on the previous benchmark within the motorsport and performance engineering industries.
With the event including two days dedicated to industry guests, 9-10 January, the latest developments from every aspect of motorsport will be displayed.
Leading manufacturer of drivetrain solutions, Quaife Engineering is set to debut several new products, led by a five-speed sequential gearkit for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo V-VIII, designed to offer rapid shifts while retaining the original casing.
The Kent firm will also display a pre-production, six-speed gearkit for the new Lotus Elise S Cup R and its QKE38Z Ford IB5 sequential unit for the Fiesta and Focus. Quaife will also unveil new applications for its Automotive Torque Biasing technology.
PFC Brakes will highlight its involvement in Renault Sport Technologies’ new Clio R.S. R3T rally car for FIA R3 Regulations, having been appointed to develop a bespoke brake system encompassing pads, discs and calipers.
Widely used across all forms of motorsport, PFC Brakes is also presenting three new brake compounds for circuit and oval racing, based on its proven friction material and with a focus on providing improved bite and more control.
At the opposite end of the spectrum, first-time exhibitor EEC Performance Systems is launching its motorsport involvement with the f-POD Intelligent Race Fuel Bowser.
Developed utilising 60 years of expertise in the industrial weighting sector and tested at racetracks during the 2013 season, a patented system weighs fuel accurately at any circuit without the need for recalibration. The f-POD also features a 10.2” full colour touchscreen to display live data.
Among the international exhibitors heading to Birmingham, Aliant Ultralight Battery from Italy and Germany’s OPEN MIND Technologies AG will display additions to their line-ups.
Aliant Ultralight Battery is introducing an improved range of lithium racing batteries. The new X Series EVO starter batteries weigh up to 15kg less than comparable lead acid batteries, with the Lithium Iron Phosphate solution also offering up to five times longer life.
Led by the new hyperMILL 2013 and hyperCAD-S programmes, OPEN MIND Technologies is showcasing its latest CAD/CAM software. Reducing programming time, hyperMILL 2013 offers increased efficiency in using modern NC machines and cutting tools, while the redeveloped hyperCAD-S features new architecture, core graphics and database, and is more closely integrated with CAM-specific tasks.
On the eve of the new season, Autosport International will bring the motorsport community together under one roof to view the sport’s latest technology. In a unique networking opportunity, the trade audience of 28,000 people at the 2013 show included guests from 62 countries.
