Thx for posting this. I have to use IE for work purposes (no work arounds at all) I recently installed as instructed but It won’t launch to the internet. I tried debugging still no go. Is there anything else that I can do ? Any help would be appreciated.

Why have you demonstrated installing IE 8, the whole idea of using Ububntu/Linux is to get away from downloading and installing ANY Microsoft rubbish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not to bash your comment, though I myself run ubuntu 14.04 LTS, and yet still manage to play intensive games like skyrim, fallout, etc. and still receive high fps... and as for programs, you can still get a mast majority to run nearly flawlessly if you know what your doing, or dedicate some time to google, or preferred forums to review others experiences. You'd be surprised. :)

That is a lovely idea in theory and in you test for IE but I have found that in reality, the programs and games one really wants to play with or needs for work do not install correctly or at all via POL or WINE.

To bad because there are only a few programs that are keeping me from being able to move my work computer from Win7 to linux..
